I was born in 1990 in a town called Kempton Park in South Africa, not far from where I live now in Benoni. I grew up in a multi-cultural home as both of my parents are from the EU, my Dad is from Spain and my Mom is from the UK.
I never grew up thinking that I was going to be a professional golfer, in fact I always believed that I would be working for Walt Disney Productions or Pixar as an animator (not what you would expect, I know). In my teens, I played squash on a provincial level and my squash club happened to be on a golf course. This is where my introduction to golf first happened at the age of 16. I must say that I didn’t initially enjoy the game of golf but after I felt my very first shot coming off the sweet spot on the club face I was hooked.
As an amateur golfer, I had a very successful career. With winning a few events and being part of the SA elite squad, I started to believe that golf could become my career and future one day, and for sure that has become a reality.
I went to university in 2010 after a gap year to play golf. I attended university in South Africa at the University of Pretoria (TUKS) and graduated in 2012 with my Bachelor in Sport Sciences and my PGA Diploma. By going to university first, it did delay my turning professional by a few years, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
My first LET tour school I played in was at the end of 2013 for the 2014 season. I received a conditional status on the tour finishing 32nd and just missing out on my full tour card. My rookie year in 2014 was both exciting and nerve racking. I met so many new people and made some amazing friends on tour which have now become my family. I returned to the LET tour school in December 2014 and ended up winning the first stage and coming 5th overall in the final stage, earning my full card for the 2015 season which I have successfully retained up to the 2018 LET season.
